PRIVACY POLICY

At Chic Sips (Chic Sips Pty Ltd, ACN 688 752 025), we’re committed to protecting your privacy and handling your personal information with discretion and care. This policy outlines how we collect, use, store and share your personal information when you visit our website, place an order or interact with us.

We comply with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs), and we manage the collection and disclosure of your personal information in accordance with these requirements.

1. What is your personal information?
In general terms, it is any information that can be used to personally identify you. This may include your name, address, telephone number and email address. If the information we collect personally identifies you, or you are reasonably identifiable from it, the information will be considered personal information. Your personal information will not be shared, sold, rented or disclosed other than as described in this Privacy Policy.

2. What we collect
We collect personal information you choose to share with us, such as:

  • Your name and contact details (e.g. email, phone number, delivery address)
  • Order and payment information
  • Account or subscription preferences (if you sign up to our mailing list)
  • Any correspondence or feedback you send us

We may also collect non-identifiable information about how you use our website (such as pages visited, time spent on site, and device type), which helps us improve your experience.

3. How we collect your personal information
We may collect your personal information when you share it with us — for example, by entering details on our website, using a related application, or providing it in another way.

We may also collect cookies, which are small text files containing a unique ID number, from your computer. These allow us to recognise when you visit our website and help customise your website experience with us. As a general rule, cookies do not personally identify you.

We may also log IP addresses, which are the electronic addresses of computers, to analyse trends, administer our website, track usage patterns, and gather broad demographic information.

Generally, we collect your personal information from you only. However, sometimes we may be given information from a third party. If this happens, we will let you know what information the third party has shared with us.

4. Purpose of collection
We use your personal information to:

  • Fulfil and deliver your orders
  • Provide updates about your purchase
  • Open an account for you on our website or any related application we may offer
  • Respond to enquiries and provide customer support
  • Send marketing emails or product updates (only if you’ve opted in)
  • Improve our website, product offering, communications and provide you with personalised content

We also collect personal information to provide you with the best experience possible on our website and keep you in the loop on our latest news, product launches and updates.

By providing us with your contact details, you consent to receiving direct marketing material from us. We will only use your personal information for this purpose if we have collected such information directly from you, and if it’s material of a type which you would reasonably expect to receive from us.

We do not collect sensitive personal information about you unless you choose to provide it for a specific purpose, such as participating in a Chic Sips loyalty or rewards program. Sensitive information has the meaning given under the APPs. We do not use sensitive information for direct marketing.

You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in our emails or contacting us at hello@chicsips.com.au.

5. How we store and protect your data
We take all reasonable steps to store your information securely and protect it from misuse, interference, loss or unauthorised access. However, no data transmission over the internet can be guaranteed to be totally secure. We use secure third-party platforms to process payments and manage customer information and only share data with providers who meet high privacy and security standards.

We do not store your credit card details. Payment information is processed securely by trusted third-party providers, depending on the payment method you choose at checkout.

6. Disclosure to third parties
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We may disclose your data to trusted third parties where necessary to:

  • Fulfil your order (e.g. delivery providers)
  • Support our business operations (e.g. e-commerce, marketing and customer service platforms)
  • Comply with legal obligations or as authorised by law (for example, to law enforcement authorities where we suspect an unlawful act is being committed or to recover payment for our products)
  • If we sell or merge our business (or part of it) with another business organisation

Any disclosures will only be made in good faith. We take reasonable steps to ensure that third parties protect your personal information in a way that is consistent with the APPs. This may include negotiating contracts that require the third party to handle your information in accordance with Australian requirements.

7. Overseas transfer
Personal information collected by us may be stored, processed, or disclosed outside of Australia. This may include, but is not limited to, countries where we or our related entities, affiliates, or service providers operate. Such jurisdictions may not have privacy laws equivalent to those in Australia. We will take reasonable steps to secure a contractual commitment from the recipient to handle your information in accordance with the APPs.

8. Cookies and tracking
We use cookies and similar technologies to analyse website traffic, remember your preferences, and show you content that’s more relevant to you. You can adjust your browser settings to disable cookies if you prefer, but some website features may not work as intended.

9. Security, access and correction
We store your personal information in a way that reasonably protects it from unauthorised access, misuse, modification or disclosure. When we no longer require your personal information for the purpose for which we obtained it, we will take reasonable steps to destroy and anonymise or de-identify it.

We will only keep your personal data for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes we collected it for, including for the purposes of satisfying any legal, tax, accounting, or compliance reporting requirements.

You’re welcome to request access to the personal information we hold about you or ask us to update it if anything is incorrect or out of date. Just contact us at hello@chicsips.com.au.

10. GDPR
In some circumstances, the European Union General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) provides additional protection to individuals located in Europe. Where this is the case, there may be additional rights and remedies available to you under the GDPR if your personal information is handled in a manner inconsistent with that law.

11. Amendments
We may make changes to this Privacy Policy at any time. Any changes will be effective immediately upon posting to our website. Your continued use of our website and placement of orders after any changes to this Privacy Policy constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms of this Privacy Policy.

12. Questions or concerns
If you have any questions about how we handle your privacy, or if you’d like to raise a concern, please contact us at hello@chicsips.com.au. We take privacy seriously and aim to respond promptly. If you're not satisfied with how we’ve handled your concern, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at www.oaic.gov.au.
